CGI Sliding & Patio Doors: The Hialeah Owner’s Guide

If you have a CGI sliding or patio door in Hialeah and a part has failed, we stock or can quickly source CGI-compatible rollers, tracks, handles, locks, and weatherstripping for most series, with typical installed repair costs running $185 to $520 depending on what’s worn. Most Hialeah homeowners discover the problem the hard way: the door suddenly takes two hands to move, a lock stops throwing, or water starts weeping in along the bottom track after a heavy afternoon storm. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with CGI, but we’ve installed and repaired their doors across Hialeah for over a decade and know exactly what fails first in this climate.

Which CGI Models This Applies To

CGI’s sliding and patio doors in Hialeah homes fall primarily into two lines: the Estate Collection and the Sentinel Series, both impact-rated and built around the same heavy extruded aluminum frames. The compatibility gotcha most owners run into is roller housing width. Older CGI doors from the early 2000s often use a 1-1/4-inch roller housing, while doors built after roughly 2012 moved to a 1-1/2-inch housing, and the two do not interchange despite looking nearly identical from the top edge. If you can slide the panel out and measure the roller assembly with a tape measure, that single number tells us most of what we need. Some early Hialeah installs also used a non-standard 7/16-inch stainless track, which limits aftermarket roller options and pushes the smart choice back to CGI OEM parts. We’re an authorized CGI installer, so when OEM is the right call, we get it through the proper channel at a fair price, and we’ll tell you honestly when a quality aftermarket roller from Prime-Line or Slide-Co will do the job just as well for less money.

Signs Your CGI Sliding & Patio Doors Is Failing

  • The door drags or feels like it’s grinding against the track. Hialeah’s fine limestone dust and sand work into the roller bearings over time. Once the sealed bearings break down, the steel balls flatten and the roller stops spinning; every open and close scrapes metal on aluminum.
  • You have to lift the door to get it moving. This means the rollers have collapsed or worn flat and the panel is riding directly on the track. Left alone, it gouges the track, and a gouged track turns a $200 roller job into a $500 track replacement.
  • Water appears along the bottom track after rain, even with the door closed. In Hialeah’s summer downpours, a compressed or torn interlock weatherstrip on a CGI door lets wind-driven rain through the meeting stile. The wool pile on the bottom rail also degrades from constant UV exposure and stops sealing.
  • The lock won’t throw, or you can jiggle the door while it’s locked. CGI’s multi-point locks ride on precise keepers in the frame. When a door sags even 1/8 inch from roller wear, the hooks no longer align, and the lock either binds or fails to engage at all.
  • The handle feels loose or floppy. The internal spring and pawl mechanism inside the handle set, especially on CGI’s mortise-style locks, wears out under daily use. Hialeah’s coastal salt air accelerates corrosion on the zinc internals, even on doors that look fine from outside.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Hialeah, most CGI sliding and patio door parts replacements run between $185 and $520 installed, depending on which part failed and which series you have. Here’s what you’re paying for:

  • Roller replacement: $185 to $320 per panel, including new stainless or sealed-bearing rollers, track cleaning, and panel height realignment.
  • Lock and handle replacement: $140 to $260, including the new hardware and re-mortising if the keeper has shifted.
  • Weatherstrip and interlock seal replacement: $120 to $240, including removing the old deteriorated pile and reseating the new seal.
  • Complete track replacement: $380 to $520, when years of grinding have deformed the original track.

Every line-item quote includes the part, the labor, and cleanup. Nothing is added after the fact unless we open the door and find something we genuinely couldn’t have known was there, and in that case, we stop and call you before touching it. Our workmanship carries our Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, Ed Winslow makes it right, period. No expiration, no fine print, no warranty that evaporates when the check clears.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself: look for visible roller collapse by shining a flashlight under the door, check whether the track feels rough or grooved with your finger, and inspect the weatherstrip along the bottom for flattening or tears. What you shouldn’t do is attempt to pull a CGI panel out yourself. These doors are heavy, and a tilt-out maneuver on an impact-rated panel can go wrong fast when it hits the stop. One tip: do not try to remove a panel without a second set of hands just to save a service call. We’ve repaired more doors where the owner damaged the frame during a DIY attempt than we’ve ever saved anyone by skipping the visit. If you’re in Hialeah and the door’s binding, dragging, or leaking, call (850) 998-3090. We’ll show up, measure what’s there, and quote you straight before any work begins.

What Neighbors Say About Winslow Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"We sat out a hurricane behind the windows Ed put in. The gusts threw a neighbour's trampoline down the street and the loudest thing in our house was the kettle. I rang him after to say thank you and he answered his own phone, same as always."

TThaddeus Okonkwo
★★★★★

"Ed measured every opening himself and walked me through the product approval paperwork before I signed anything. When the inspector came he found the notice of acceptance taped inside a window like it should be and passed us first visit."

RRosalind Beaumont
★★★★★

"The old aluminium sliders howled every afternoon storm and swelter came straight through the glass. The new impact sliders shut with a sound like a bank vault and the back rooms finally hold their temperature."

PPercival Whitcombe
★★★★★

"Someone tried the back slider while we were away. The glass crazed and held, the alarm never had to earn its keep, and the police report reads better than it might have. Ed came out the next morning to check the frame himself."

CCornelius Adeyemi
★★★★★

"Three big companies quoted us and every one sent a salesman with a leased truck. Ed turned up in a truck with his own name on the door, quoted less, and his crew were the same faces on day one and day nine."

YYolanda Betancourt
★★★★★

"He replaced the front door and the garage door in the same week, both rated for impact, and lined the frames up so straight my level had nothing to say. My wife stopped hearing the highway from the front room."
