Geometric & Shaped Windows in Hialeah, FL | Winslow Windows & Doors

Geometric & Shaped Windows give a Hialeah home its signature: a half-round transom over the entry, a hexagonal accent in a gable, an octagonal centerpiece in a living room. These are triangular, hexagonal, octagonal and curved impact-glass configurations custom-fabricated to your exact opening. You get real architectural character without giving up a single point of wind-zone protection. Winslow Windows & Doors sells and installs these across our PGT, CGI, CWS, ES Windows, ECO, and Mr-Glass lines, and we’ve fitted them in homes from Palm Springs North to the Lakes. Call (850) 998-3090 to talk about the opening you have in mind.

Product Overview - Geometric & Shaped Windows

A geometric window is a fixed architectural window cut to a non-rectangular profile. Triangles, trapezoids, half-rounds, quarter-rounds, octagons, hexagons, pentagons, ellipticals, and custom arcs. In Hialeah, where a lot of the housing stock leans Mediterranean and mid-century Florida, these windows do the heavy lifting on curb appeal. They turn an otherwise flat facade into something worth looking at.

What makes this profile suited to hurricane-prone construction is the same thing that makes it harder to build: every angle is a stress point. When wind loads hit a shaped window, the pressure doesn’t distribute evenly the way it does across a rectangle. The corners take more. That means the frame has to be engineered for those concentrations, not just extruded to a standard tolerance. Our impact-rated geometric units are custom-fabricated to order, so the frame is cut and joined to the exact geometry of your opening, then glazed with laminated impact glass that holds together under large-missile impact. Architectural detail without sacrificing wind-zone protection, for homes from Hialeah’s older bungalow districts to new construction out west.

These windows are fixed units, not operable. They exist to bring in light and give the house a shape. In that role, they outperform almost anything else you can put in a wall.

Technical Specifications

Every geometric window we order is fabricated to the dimensions and angles of your specific opening. There is no stock size. Here’s what you can specify:

  • Frame materials: Aluminum or vinyl, selected for the geometry and the wind zone
  • Maximum size: Custom fabricated to order - no pre-set upper bound, subject to engineering review for your design pressure
  • Glass options: Laminated impact glass (PVB interlayer), Low-E insulated glass, tinted glass, clear glass
  • Finish options: White, almond, bronze, black, tan
  • Profile types: Triangles, hexagons, octagons, half-rounds, quarter-rounds, ellipticals, custom arcs
  • Operation: Fixed (non-operable)
  • Compliance documentation: Miami-Dade NOA and Florida Product Approval numbers available per configuration

We match the frame profile to the architecture. A deep bronze aluminum frame on a half-round transom reads completely differently than a slim white vinyl triangle in a gable. Both have their place in Hialeah. We’ll help you pick the one that belongs on your house.

Hurricane & Compliance Performance

Laminated Impact Glass

The glass assembly uses a polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayer sandwiched between two panes. Under impact, the pane may crack, but the PVB holds the fragments in the frame. That’s what keeps wind-driven debris outside where it belongs during a storm in Hialeah.

Miami-Dade NOA / Florida Product Approval

Each configuration carries a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance or Florida Product Approval number. These are issued per configuration, which matters for shaped windows: a half-round and a hexagon are not interchangeable from a compliance standpoint. We verify the specific number on your quote before anything is ordered.

FBC / HVHZ Compliance

The units are engineered to Florida Building Code High-Velocity Hurricane Zone requirements. Hialeah sits in an HVHZ jurisdiction, so anything less is a non-starter for a permitted installation. We don’t sell anything below that bar.

TAS 201 / TAS 202 / TAS 203 Testing Context

HVHZ-rated products are tested under the TAS protocol family. TAS 201 covers large-missile impact, TAS 202 covers cyclic wind-pressure loading, and TAS 203 covers forced-entry resistance. That’s the standard our window configurations are built to meet.

Design Pressure for Your Wind Zone

Design pressures are matched to your specific wind zone, up to +/-100, never higher. We don’t upsell you into a pressure rating you don’t need, and we don’t quote below what your zone requires. Your engineer’s wind-load calculation sets the number.

Energy Performance Options

Low-E and insulated glass options are available for thermal performance. In Hialeah, where the summer heat is relentless, a Low-E coating on a west-facing octagon can meaningfully reduce afternoon heat gain without changing the look of the window.

Color & Glass Options

Finish is the first thing you notice on a geometric window, and in Hialeah the house usually tells you what it wants. White and almond suit the clean stucco look common in newer subdivisions. Bronze and black frames read more contemporary and hold their own against darker roof profiles and modern landscaping. Tan works well on the Mediterranean and Spanish-style homes you see across the older neighborhoods of Hialeah, where the palette is warm and earthy.

On the glass side, clear laminated impact glass gives you the truest light and the most neutral look. Tinted glass cuts glare, which matters for a large fixed window catching full afternoon sun. Low-E insulated glass adds thermal performance without a visible tint, and it’s a good pick for west-facing installations. Any of these can be laminated for impact rating, so the storm protection never depends on which glass option you choose.

Installation by Winslow Windows & Doors in Hialeah

A geometric window is only as good as the opening it’s set into. If the rough opening is out of square by even a small margin, the window goes in stressed, and stressed frames fail sooner. That’s why our installation process starts with a pre-install inspection of the opening itself: we measure, check for plumb and level, and verify the structural condition before anything gets ordered.

Once the unit arrives, we set it level, plumb, and square. Shims go in exactly where the frame engineering says they should, not where they’re convenient. The perimeter gets sealed with AAMA 812 low-expansion foam, and the overall installation follows AAMA 2400/2410 standard practice. After the window is in, we run a water test on the perimeter, clean up, and leave you with the documentation you need.

Hialeah permitting is HVHZ, which means your window submittal will be reviewed against the Florida Building Code High-Velocity Hurricane Zone provisions. We know what that review looks for. We’ve installed in Hialeah long enough to know which details the plans examiners flag and which ones they pass without comment. Improper installation compromises the NOA-rated system, no matter how good the window itself is. That’s the argument for professional installation in one sentence.

What Neighbors Say About Winslow Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"We sat out a hurricane behind the windows Ed put in. The gusts threw a neighbour's trampoline down the street and the loudest thing in our house was the kettle. I rang him after to say thank you and he answered his own phone, same as always."

TThaddeus Okonkwo
★★★★★

"Ed measured every opening himself and walked me through the product approval paperwork before I signed anything. When the inspector came he found the notice of acceptance taped inside a window like it should be and passed us first visit."

RRosalind Beaumont
★★★★★

"The old aluminium sliders howled every afternoon storm and swelter came straight through the glass. The new impact sliders shut with a sound like a bank vault and the back rooms finally hold their temperature."

PPercival Whitcombe
★★★★★

"Someone tried the back slider while we were away. The glass crazed and held, the alarm never had to earn its keep, and the police report reads better than it might have. Ed came out the next morning to check the frame himself."

CCornelius Adeyemi
★★★★★

"Three big companies quoted us and every one sent a salesman with a leased truck. Ed turned up in a truck with his own name on the door, quoted less, and his crew were the same faces on day one and day nine."

YYolanda Betancourt
★★★★★

"He replaced the front door and the garage door in the same week, both rated for impact, and lined the frames up so straight my level had nothing to say. My wife stopped hearing the highway from the front room."
