Mr-Glass Window Replacement: The Hialeah Owner’s Guide

If you have a Mr-Glass window with a failed part, the replacement glass unit typically runs $220 to $480 installed in Hialeah, depending on size and whether it’s impact-rated or standard. We stock Mr-Glass-compatible glass packs on our trucks and can usually complete the swap same day once we confirm your measurements. Most Hialeah owners discover the problem the hard way: a window that fogs between the panes, a crack that spreads after a storm, or a sash that suddenly won’t seal tight against the frame.

We’re an independent Hialeah service provider, not a Mr-Glass corporate location, and that actually works in your favor. We’re authorized to install Mr-Glass products and we keep a running inventory of the glass units most common in Hialeah homes, so you’re not waiting on a factory order from out of state.

Which Mr-Glass Models This Applies To

Mr-Glass manufactures a fairly specific lineup: single-hung, horizontal roller, fixed picture windows, and a line of impact-rated units common in South Florida coastal builds. The glass pack inside your frame is not universal. Mr-Glass uses a 7/8-inch insulated glass unit (IGU) on most standard models and steps up to a 1-1/8-inch impact unit on their storm-rated line. If you order the wrong thickness, the glass won’t seat in the frame and the sash won’t close. We see that mistake often enough that measuring thickness is the first thing we check on a service call.

To identify your unit, look for the etched label in the corner of the glass. It’ll show the manufacturer code, the glass type (tempered, laminated, or annealed), and sometimes the production date. If that label is worn off, we measure the visible glass and the overall IGU thickness. For Mr-Glass specifically, we recommend sticking with OEM glass packs when the window is under ten years old. After that, a quality aftermarket IGU with matching Low-E coating and argon fill performs just as well and usually costs 15 to 20 percent less. Either way, we warranty the work, not just the part.

Signs Your Mr-Glass Window Replacement Is Failing

  • Fog or condensation between the panes. The seal on the IGU has failed, letting the desiccant absorb moisture and the argon gas escape. Once the seal goes, the window loses its insulating value permanently. There’s no resealing it; the glass pack must be replaced.
  • A visible crack spreading from the frame edge. Hialeah’s heat cycles cause the aluminum or vinyl frame to expand and contract. If a glass edge is pinched against the frame, stress cracks start at the corner and travel inward. Replacing early prevents a full shatter.
  • The sash drags or won’t close flush. A warped IGU or failing balance hardware shifts the sash out of square. The window still works physically, but the seal against the weatherstripping is compromised, which drives up your AC bills in a Hialeah summer.
  • You can feel heat radiating through the glass from three feet away. A failed Low-E coating or lost argon fill turns a good window into a magnifying glass. Hialeah’s afternoon sun will cook a room if the IGU has lost its reflective layer.
  • Water stains on the interior sill after rain. The perimeter glazing gasket has shrunk or cracked. Water isn’t getting through the glass; it’s getting around it. The IGU might still be good, but the glazing needs to be re-bedded while the unit is out.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Hialeah, expect these installed ranges for a single Mr-Glass-compatible IGU replacement:

  • Standard single-hung or fixed window (non-impact): $220-$340 per glass pack, installed
  • Impact-rated Mr-Glass unit: $320-$480 per glass pack, installed
  • Large picture window or custom geometric shape: $380-$600 per glass pack, installed

What drives the price: glass thickness (7/8-inch standard vs 1-1/8-inch impact), Low-E coating requirements, and whether the frame needs glazing re-bedding while the glass is out. We quote the part and labor together, upfront, with no change orders when the job is straightforward. Every Mr-Glass replacement we install carries the Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we come back and make it right. That’s Ed Winslow’s name on the work, not a ticket number.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely do a few things before calling: note whether the fog is between the panes or just on the surface, measure the visible glass width and height to give us a head start, and take a photo of any label etched on the corner of the unit. That helps us confirm compatibility before we even schedule the truck.

But pulling a Mr-Glass IGU out of its frame is not a weekend project. The glazing bead holds the glass under tension, and the units are heavy; a 36-by-60 impact IGU runs over 50 pounds. Getting it out without chipping the frame or cutting the gasket takes practice and the right tools. If the unit cracks while you’re wrestling it, you’ve doubled the cost. Call us at (850) 998-3090 and we’ll handle the swap cleanly, with the glass matched to your Mr-Glass frame the first time.

What Neighbors Say About Winslow Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"We sat out a hurricane behind the windows Ed put in. The gusts threw a neighbour's trampoline down the street and the loudest thing in our house was the kettle. I rang him after to say thank you and he answered his own phone, same as always."

TThaddeus Okonkwo
★★★★★

"Ed measured every opening himself and walked me through the product approval paperwork before I signed anything. When the inspector came he found the notice of acceptance taped inside a window like it should be and passed us first visit."

RRosalind Beaumont
★★★★★

"The old aluminium sliders howled every afternoon storm and swelter came straight through the glass. The new impact sliders shut with a sound like a bank vault and the back rooms finally hold their temperature."

PPercival Whitcombe
★★★★★

"Someone tried the back slider while we were away. The glass crazed and held, the alarm never had to earn its keep, and the police report reads better than it might have. Ed came out the next morning to check the frame himself."

CCornelius Adeyemi
★★★★★

"Three big companies quoted us and every one sent a salesman with a leased truck. Ed turned up in a truck with his own name on the door, quoted less, and his crew were the same faces on day one and day nine."

YYolanda Betancourt
★★★★★

"He replaced the front door and the garage door in the same week, both rated for impact, and lined the frames up so straight my level had nothing to say. My wife stopped hearing the highway from the front room."
